Mother's Day Fun...

Mother's day this year started out with the kids coming into my room and whispering, in tandem, no less..."Mommy, it's time to wake up! Happy mother's day, breakfast is ready and we went and got you coffee in our pajamas!" They were so excited that everything was all ready to go and that they had brought up a beautiful pink flower. It was really cute. A few days prior, Nate brought home a homemade mother's day gift from preschool which consisted of a magnet that had a picture of him...cutest thing EVER! I made a HUGE deal about it and yesterday he said "Mommy, don't you just adore the magnet I made for you?"

We decided to go down to Seattle and see what what happening there...I wanted to walk around, go to Pike Place and do mommy things like shop! Here is a picture of Nate and Carmen gazing at the penguin made of various aluminum finds...ice cream scoops, the grills of old cars, prayer plates, a keg, and motorcycle brakes to name just a few.

Nate looking like such a big boy...he's a real kid now, no more baby face, or baby fat. He won't even kiss us without a fight sometimes. Notice how he wears his "Rescue pack"? It's something that he picked up from "Go, Diego, Go". He's a very creative boy and likes to pretend all sorts of things. He also wears a "video watch" which is really a compass from Grandpa George and talks into it to his sister, even when she is right there. I love that he sees things so much differently than we as adults do. He's happy to do his own thing and I'm happy that he does it too.

Carmen was sad that the penguin wouldn't talk back to her...she kept saying "I can't wake him up, I can't wake him up!" She was very distraught, and we tried to explain that he wasn't real, but deep in her heart she KNEW he was, if only she talked loud enough! We all had a go at explaining to her that he couldn't talk back and finally when it was time to go she turned to the penguin and said "Goodbye, penguin." and walked off. I hope she knows that deep in his heart the penguin said goodbye to her too.

The kids go for a shoulder ride on Peter on 2nd and Pine...they all look so proud. Nate's boot kept falling off and Carmen's hair was flying in her face, but they had such a great time it didn't matter to anyone!
